Card Rulings¶

• None of the effects of “Brain Research Lab” start a Chain.

• The, and effects are all Continuous.

• Each effect is separate from the rest.

• The Continuous Effect may be used before you perform your standard Normal Summon / Set.

• This effect can be used to gain either a Normal Summon or a Normal Tribute Summon.

• This effect can’t be used to gain an additional Set of a Psychic-Type monster.

• This effect can only be used once per turn, even if you play a second copy of “Brain Research Lab.”

• You can still use this effect to Normal Summon a Psychic-Type monster after gaining an additional Summon by “Double Summon” / “Ultimate Offering”.

• You still Tribute when using this effect to Summon Level 5 or higher Psychic-Type monster.

• The Continuous Effect does not start a chain.

• The Continuous Effect only applies for the activated effects of Psychic-Type monsters.

• A monster whose Type is Psychic (by “DNA Surgery”) can activate its effects that require a Life Point payment by placing 1 Psychic Counter on this card.

• You can’t place a Psychic Counter on this card to activate an effect that you would not have enough Life Points to activate otherwise.

• You can’t place a Psychic Counter on this card to activate the effect of a card like “Psychic Commander.”

• You can’t place a Psychic Counter to use the effect of “Telekinetic Shocker” or other such effects that are not an effect activation that start a Chain.

• The Continous Effect is mandatory, though it does not start a chain.

• You take damage for each Psychic Counter even if this card was returned to your hand / Deck, .

• If “Brain Research Lab’s” effects are negated by Spell Canceller, remove all Psychic Counters.

Card Text¶

① Once per turn, you can Normal Summon 1 Psychic-Type monster in addition to your Normal Summon or Set. ② If successful, place 1 Psychic Counter on this card. ③ You can also place 1 Psychic Counter on this card instead of paying Life Points to activate any Psychic-Type monster’s effect that you control. ④ When this card is removed from the field, the controller of this card takes 1000 damage for each Psychic Counter on it.
